Mechanism of inheritance in humans are :
Chromosomes are the vehicles of heredity, and the genes are the units of heredity. During gamete formation, the segregation of chromosomes take place. Gametes are formed after meiosis during which the recombination of genes takes place.
Half of the genetic material is contributed by the mother and half by the father in the fertilization to form a zygote which develops into an individual later. These genes expressed on their time to form the proteins required for their expression.
