Solution

Scale of map = 1 cm : 250 km
i.e, 1 cm on map = 250 km

Let the distance between the cities on the map be c cm.

So, 1 : 250 = c : 20,000 (1 mark)

Product of the means = product of the extremes

c = 20,000250 = 80 cm (1 mark)
