Question

Cl2+2Br- =2Cl-+Br2 what is the n factor of bromine in displacement reaction with chlorine

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

N factor means conversion factor which is equal to number of electrons transferred per mole of reactant.
A halogen molecule is electron acceptor (reducing agent) while, a halide ion is the electron donor (oxidising agent).
So, in this reaction, number of electrons transferred = 2, since the essential reaction is 2Br
Br2 +
2e
