Elements: A pure substance that is made up of only one kind of atom and can not be broken down into simpler forms using physical means.

Elements are classified into three types on the basis of their physical state :

1. Solid Elements - Those elements which can exit as solid at room temperature are known as solid elements.
For Example - Copper$\left(\mathrm{Cu}\right)$, Sodium$\left(\mathrm{Na}\right)$, Magnesium $\left(\mathrm{Mg}\right)$
2. Liquid Elements - Those elements which can exist as liquids at room temperature are known as liquid elements.
For example - Bromine$\left(\mathrm{Br}\right)$, Mercury $\left(\mathrm{Hg}\right)$
3. Gaseous Elements - Those elements which can exist as a gas at room temperature are known as gaseous elements.
For Example - Oxygen $\left(\mathrm{O}\right)$, Hydrogen $\left(\mathrm{H}\right)$, Chlorine $\left(\mathrm{Cl}\right)$
