Pollutants are classified as Bio-degradable and Non bio-degradable on the basis of their ability to get broken down by natural agents.
a) Bio-degradable pollutants- The pollutants which are decomposed by natural agents eg domestic (municipal) sewage.
b) Non bio-degradable pollutants- The pollutants which don’t decompose by natural agents eg DDT, aluminium cans.
