Solution

Plasma membrane :

  1. It is a fluid mosaic assembler of molecules of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates.
  2. The plasma membrane consists of 75%phospholipids, 50%proteins, cholesterol, and carbohydrates.
  3. According to the position of proteins in the plasma membrane, the proteins are classified into two types namely Integral or intrinsic proteins and Peripheral or extrinsic proteins
  4. Integral or intrinsic proteins: A protein permanently attached to a biological membrane by the interaction between its hydrophobic dimer and phospholipids of the membrane.
  5. Peripheral or extrinsic proteins: A membrane protein that partially spans the membrane and is attached either to the outer or inner phospholipid layer.
