Solution

Salt solution is a homogeneous mixture.

  • This is because in salt solution i.e.; Sodium chloride (NaCl) dissolved in Water (H2O) contains salt particles distributed uniformly in the water and there is uniformity in the properties of the mixture throughout.
  • There is no boundary of separation in the mixture.

Mixture: When two or more substances (elements or compounds or an element and compound) are mixed in any proportion.

Homogeneous mixture: A mixture that exhibits uniformity in its composition and properties throughout its mass is known as a homogeneous mixture.Example: Sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, Sugar (C12H22O11) solution etc.

Heterogeneous mixture: A mixture that does not exhibit uniformity in its composition and properties throughout its mass is known as a heterogeneous mixture. Example: Muddy water, Sand and Iron (Fe) nails combined together.
