Physical change - A change in which no new substance is formed and only there is change in shape , size and state and color are termed as physical change.
Chemical change - A change in which new substances in form of products are formed due to occurrence of a chemical reaction is termed as chemical change.
Part II - Classification
Cooking idli from batter is a chemical change because there occurs the process of fermentation which causes the batter to ferment and results in change in taste of idli as well as its composition. Since here a chemical reaction known as fermentation is taking place which changes the composition of batter , hence it is a chemical change.
