Solution

Dear student,

Following are the chemical change caused because of the chemical reaction-

1. When the magnesium ribbon burns, the white substance is formed, which is magnesium oxide (MgO) with dazzling light due to the reaction of 2Mg with an oxygen molecule.

2. As we know, Sugar is made of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms. Therefore, when the Sugar is burnt, Sugar's atoms combine with the oxygen in the air and form new groups of atoms, and energy is released in the form of smoke and black soot.

3. Souring of milk is a chemical change because, during that process, acidification takes place, and soured milk is produced. This sour milk has different chemical properties from fresh milk.

Following are the physical change as it does not cause any chemical reaction and there is no new substance formation-

1. The dissolving Sugar into water is a physical and reversible change as in the change, there is no new substance formed.

2. The melting of butter is just a change of the form from solid to liquid. There is no chemical reaction takes place or the formation of any new substance.

3. The breaking of a glass bottle does not cause any chemical reaction; it is just a physical change of bottle into its pieces.

4. The clothes being ironed is just a physical change, not a chemical change in which the clothes are pressed with heat that presses the fibers of the clothes to increase finishing.

5. The wool is knitted into a sweater is a physical change in which the wool is arranged in a specific way to make design and to make a sweater.

6. There is no chemical change in the hair while drying; it is just to remove excess water from the hair. Thus, it is a physical change.
