Solution

Physical change:

  • A physical change is a change in which no new substance is formed.
  • A physical change is temporary and reversible.
  • In physical change the chemical composition of the original substance is not altered.
  • For example, drying of wet clothes, breaking of a glass tumbler, drying paints, etc.
  • When an electric lamp is switched on, an electric current pass through the filament of the lamp.
  • As a result, the filament glows to give light.
  • No new substance is formed inside the lamp during this process.

Therefore, the lighting of an electric lamp is a physical change.
