Classify the following into osmosis/diffusion.
Shrinking of grapes kept in thick sugar syrup.

Solution

Shrinking of grapes in sugar syrup is because of osmosis as in this process the liquid moves from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. The sugar syrup has high solute concentration so the solvent moves from grapes to the outside.
