(i) H2O, (ii) CCl4 (ii) NH3

Give reason for your classification.

Solution

H2O

Polar

Oxygen is more electronegative than hydrogen hence attracts the shared pair of electron towards itself

CCl4

Non- polar

There are 4 chlorine atoms. All of them try to attract the electrons towards themselves hence cancelling the polarity

NH3

Polar

Nitrogen is more electronegative than hydrogen hence attracts the shared pair of electron towards itself.
