Solution

The clayey soil should be mixed with organic matter to improve its quality. The organic matter such as peat, moss, compost can be added to the clayey soil. To improve water holding capacity of sandy soil, biochar should be added to the sandy soil. Biochar is made of agricultural wastes such as stalks, straw and wood of no commercial value.
