Clear the idea of Independent and Dependent Events in the chapter Probability.
Independent and Dependent Events.
Two events such that the probability of occurrence of one of them is not affected by the occurrence of the other are called independent events.
For example: When a card is taken out of a pack of cards, the event that “a jack is drawn” and the event that “an ace is drawn” are independent events.
Two events are said to be dependent if they are not independent i.e., the probability of occurrence of one of them is affected by the occurrence of the other.
For example: Two balls are drawn from a bag containing red and blue balls. The events “getting a red ball on the first draw” and “getting a red ball on the second draw” are dependent events in the case when the second ball is drawn without replacing the first ball.
