1.Cleavage is the process of division of the cytoplasm (cytokinesis) in animal cells.
In mitosis nucleus divides into two identical nuclei.
2.In cleavage nucleus: cytoplasmic ratio increases. In mitosis nucleus: cytoplasmic ratio remains same.
3. Cleavage is a very rapid process, hence O2 consumption is very high. O2 consumption in mitosis is low, as the process is slow.
4. Growth phase does not occur in cleavage. Growth occurs during interphase.
