Let us assume the dice in fig. (ii) to be rotated so that the face with 5 dots appears at the same position as in fig. (i). So, the dice was rotated upwards, which brought the face with 1 from front to top. On either side of the face containing 1, we have faces with 2 and 4. These two faces are opposite to each other, therefore, two dots are contained on the face opposite to that containing four dots.
