Solution

The correct option is C metaphase, polyploidy
Colchicine is an alkaloid drug that is considered to be a cellular poison. It stops the cell division and arrests the cells at the metaphase stage. It generally works by destructing the spindle fibre formation which results in the separation of the chromosome. Thus chromosome cannot separate during the anaphase and they are stuck at the metaphase stage.
This leads to an increase in chromosome number in a particular cell and thus polyploidy occurs.
Polyploidy is a condition where the chromosome number is more than the general 23 pairs.
So, the correct option is 'metaphase, polyploidy'
