A crude metal is likely top get corroded in an environmental condition which is why electroplating is used.
It is the application of metallic coating on metallic or non-metallic surfaces through electrolysis.
It improves the aesthetics of metals and also brings about change in its physical, chemical and mechanical properties.
Example.
Chromium plating on automobiles and kitchen appliances.
Plating of gold or silver on less valuable metals in expensive jewellary making.
Plating of Zn,Mg,Al etc. on iron objects to protest from corrosion.
Cu plating in communicating equipment and circuits to increase electrical conductivity.
