The colostrum is the milk which is produced in the early days after the childbirth. It is considered as essential for the infants. The colostrum contains different antibodies in large concentrations, which help to provide immunity to the child against the infectious pathogens. There are carbohydrates and proteins in the milk. There is a low amount of fat. The milk acts as a laxative which aids in digestion and easy passage of stools. There are many immune cells like the macrophages and lymphocytes which can provide protection to the infant. Hence, the colostrum is considered as essential for the newborn babies.
