Comment on the direction of current inside and outside the voltaic cell and the polarity of the electrodes on connecting the electrodes externally with a piece of wire.

On connecting the copper and zinc electrodes externally, with a piece of wire, current flows from copper to zinc outside the cell and from zinc to copper inside it. The copper and zinc rods act as positive and negative electrodes respectively.
