Land revenue refers to the money paid by land owners to the government. Land is thus used as a source of revenue. This revenue is then utilised to provide and maintain various public services and facilities to citizens, such as clean water supply, good roads and electricity. Additional public services include anganwadis, fair price shops, the milk society, the post office or sub post office and government-run health centres. Revenue collection depends primarily on the land records created and maintained by the Patwari, thus making the documents all the more important.
