Solution

Naturally occurring chemical substances present beneath the earth's surface, which are obtainable by mining are called minerals. They are made up of inorganic compounds having characteristic structure and physical properties. The amount of metal present in a mineral is very important. All minerals are not mined so as to extract metals. Minerals in which the quantity of metal extracted is not profitable are not considered as ores. A mineral containing a good quantity of metal that can be profitably mined is called an ore. Thus, all ores are minerals but all minerals are not ores.
