Both bryophytes and pteridophytes have jacketed and multicellular sex organs. Antheridia is the male sex organ and archegonia is the female sex organ.

Bryophytes are non vascular plants that do not contain xylem and phloem. Pteridophytes on the other hand are vascular plants which contain vascular tissues other than xylem vessels and companion cells.

In bryophytes the dominant plant body is a haploid gametophyte generation whereas in pteridophytes the diploid sporophyte is dominant.
