Step-up transformer increases the magnitude of input voltage of primary coil. In step-up transformer, primary coil has less turns than secondary coil.
Whereas step-down transformer decreases the magnitude of input voltage of primary coil. In step-down transformer, primary coil has more turns than secondary coil.
