Solution

Compare hydrogen and halogen

PropertiesHydrogenHalogen
1.Physical stateHydrogen is present in gaseous state.Halogens are present in gaseous state.
2. Ion formation Hydrogen forms both cation and anion by gaining or losing 1 electron from valence shell.Halogens form anion by accepting 1 electron in the valence shell.
3. ValencyHydrogen is monovalent. Valency = 1Halogens are also monovalent. Valency = 1
4. Reaction with oxygenHydrogen forms oxide that reacts with oxygen that is neutral in nature.Halogens form oxides that react with oxygen that are acidic in nature.
