Both Hydrogen and alkali metal readily react with oxygen and form their respective oxide.

Hydrogen Alkali metals

•Hydrogen forms its oxide (water) which is a neutral oxide

• Reaction: ${2 H}_{2}$ + $O_{2}$ → ${2 H}_{2} O$
•Generally, alkali metals form basic oxides.

•Reaction: 4Na + $O_{2}$ → ${2 N a}_{2} O$
