It is also referred to as the atmosphere and remains in place because of the gravity of the Earth.
It is composed of various gases primarily oxygen (21%), nitrogen (79%), carbon dioxide (0.04%), noble gases (mainly argon up to 0.9%), water vapour (variable), and trace elements (variable) etc.
The various components in the air are crucial for the sustenance and survival of .plants and animals.
The air of Venus:
The air of Venus is extremely hot and thick.
It is composed of 96% carbon dioxide by volume and hence is extremely unsuitable for human life. The remaining is taken up by nitrogen.
The air of Mars:
The air of Mars is thin and cold.
It is formed of 95% carbon dioxide by volume. The remaining is occupied by diatomic nitrogen.
