(1) x2 – 7x + 5 = 0
(2) 2m2 = 5m – 5
(3) y2 = 7y

Solution

(1) x2 – 7x + 5 = 0
General form of the quadratic equation is ax2+bx+c=0.
Comparing x2 – 7x + 5 = 0 with the general form we have a = 1, b = -7 and c = 5.

(2) 2m2 = 5m – 5
2m2-5m+5=0
General form of the quadratic equation is ax2+bx+c=0.
Comparing 2m2 = 5m – 5 with the general form we have a = 2, b = -5 and c = 5.

(3) y2 = 7y
y2-7y+0=0
General form of the quadratic equation is ax2+bx+c=0.
Comparing y2-7y+0=0 with the general form we have a = 1, b = -7 and c = 0.
