Solution
In lower plants the respiration is rather simple, it just involves the exchange of gases like carbon dioxide and oxygen and then a breakdown of glucose to release energy.
In higher plants, as they are more developed and have different structures, respiration is a bit complicated. The leaves respire through the stomata which exchange the carbon dioxide and oxygen from the atmosphere. The wooden bark present on the trunk of the tree has lenticel which allows the respiration.
For the breakdown of the glucose, they have a glycolysis and then the citric acid cycle which results in the formation of ATP as energy.
