Dear Student,
Thompson's model: The negatively charged particles are scattered all over a sphere that is positively charged. Also called the Plum-Pudding model.
Rutherford's model: •The positive charge in an atom is concentrated in a very small volume. This volume is very small as compared to the volume of the atom. And is called the nucleus.
• The charged electrons revolve around the nucleus in high speed circular paths known as Orbits.
• Electrons are negatively charged and nucleus being a densely concentrated mass, the charged particles are held together by electrostatic forces of attraction.
Bohr's model: • Electrons revolve around the nucleus in only certain permissible circular orbits, called shells.
• Each orbit is associated with a definite energy.
• The energy of an electron remains constant as long as it revolves in a given orbit.
• When electrons absorb energy, it jumps from lower energy level to higher energy level.
• Electrons at higher energy level are unstable, so it jumps from higher energy level to lower energy level.
