Solution

(i) No reaction occurs between $P_{4}$ and water. However, in acidic and basic medium, two different reactions occur. The reaction in acidic medium is as follows:
$2 P_{4} + 12 H_{2} O \to 4 P H_{3} + 4 H P O_{3}^{2 -} + 8 H^{+}$
The reaction in basic medium:
$2 P_{4} + 4 H_{2} O + 8 O H^{-} \to 4 P H_{3} + 4 H P O_{3}^{2 -}$

(ii) $X e F_{4}$ reacts with $O_{2} F_{2}$ to give oxygen.
$X e F_{4} + O_{2} F_{2} \to X e F_{6} + O_{2}$
