Very dilute nitric acid$\left({\mathrm{HNO}}_3\right)$:

• Hydrogen $\left({\mathrm{H}}_2\right)$ is generally not liberated when dilute $\left({\mathrm{HNO}}_3\right)$ reacts with metals.
• Manganese $\left(\mathrm{Mn}\right)$, however, react with highly dilute ${\mathrm{HNO}}_3$ at a low temperature to liberate ${\mathrm{H}}_2$ since the oxidizing action of the acid is much reduced due to dilution.
