Solution

  1. A food chain is a linear sequence of organisms through which energy and nutrients pass as one organism eats another.
  2. Each step of a food chain is termed as trophic level.

(b) Flower(nectar) ⇢ Insects ⇢ birds

In this food chain, nectar produced by flowers is the producer, Insect is the primary consumer and bird is the secondary consumer.

(c) Algae ⇢ small animals ⇢ small fish ⇢ big fish

In the above food chain, algae is a producer, that is eaten by small animals so they are primary consumers, small animals are eaten by small fishes who are secondary consumers and these small fish are the prey of big fishes and that makes them tertiary consumers.
