Solution

The correct option is C What
The words, 'why', what', who' and 'when' are called interrogative pronouns which are used to ask questions. 'Why' is used to obtain an explanation or reason. 'Where' refers to places and locations. 'What' refers to a specific thing/ information. 'When' refers to a time or an occasion.
In the given sentence, 'you' is the subject. 'The word, 'did' is an auxiliary verb, the word, 'get' is the main verb. Hence, the blank has to be filled by a word in the 'objective case'. The pronoun refers to something which is received as a gift for a person's birthday and which is in the accusative case. The most appropriate interrogative pronoun to be used in the accusative case is 'what'.
The given sentence follows the form: What+auxiliary verb (did) +subject +rest of the sentence. In such a sentence, the answer to the question forms the object of the sentence. Hence, option C is correct.
Given the meanings as above, the other interrogative pronouns at options A. B and D are incorrect.
