Solution

  1. Solution: A solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substances. Example: sugar solution (sugar in water).
  2. Colloidal solution: A colloidal solution in a solution in which the size of the solute particles is intermediate to that of true solution and suspension. Example: Shaving cream.
  3. Suspension: A suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the particles of solute remain suspended in the solution and get settled down to the bottom of the container when left untouched for some time. Example: Blood
  4. Tyndall effect: The phenomenon of scattering of light when light is passed through a colloidal solution is termed as Tyndall effect.
  5. Brownian movement: The zig-zag movement of particles in a colloid is known as the Brownian movement.
