Compounds with single bond involves only a single pair of electrons where as compounds with double or triple bonds involves two and three pairs of electrons respectively. Presence of more than one pair of electrons leads to repulsion between these electron pairs itself which in effect leads to the weakening of the double or triple bonds.
Thus, compounds with single bonds are more stable than those with double and triple bonds.
