As the class 15-20 has maximum frequency, so it is the modal class:

Therefore,
l=15, h=5, f=24 and f1=18 and f2=17

Mode = l+[h×(f−f1)/(2f−f1−f2)]

=15+[5×(24−18)/(2×48−18−17)]

= (15+2.30) = 17.3 years

Hence, mode = 17.3 years
