Consider 2 mirrors arranged at right angle as shown. A ray is incident at an angle of 30∘ to the normal of the mirror 1.
What is the angle made by the outgoing ray with the normal of mirror 2? [3 MARKS]
Each point: 1 Mark
1. The reflected ray will make an angle of 30∘ with the normal and then hit the second mirror.
2. As the mirrors are inclined at right angle, this ray will make 30∘ with the mirror (Corresponding angles).
3. So angle made by this ray with the normal of Mirror 2 will be 60∘ and by the first law of reflection the outgoing ray will make 60∘ with its normal.
