Consider a jar of gas kept on a car. The temperature of the gas is 50∘ C. After sometime, the car starts moving at a constant velocity of magnitude 10 m/s. Since vrms with respect to the ground changes, what will be the temperature in the ground frame?
The temperature of the gas does not change if you translate it in bulk.A better way to state it is - the temperature is invariant with respect to the frame of reference - since the vrms (and hence, temperature) is calculated taking the molecules' velocities with respect to the walls of the container, it does not change when the container itself is being translated, rotated, or set to any kind of motion. Case closed.
