The temperature of the gas does not change if you translate it in bulk.A better way to state it is - the temperature is invariant with respect to the frame of reference - since the vrms (and hence, temperature) is calculated taking the molecules' velocities with respect to the walls of the container, it does not change when the container itself is being translated, rotated, or set to any kind of motion.
