Median is the middle value of the data when the values are arranged in ascending or descending order.

The given data can be written in the form of: $x_1{x}_2{x}_3{x}_4{x}_5$

Median of the above data will be the term $x_3$.

So, as per the data there are 5 employees whose salaries are $9000$ and $23000$ p.m

Hence $x_1=x_2=x_3=x_4=9000$

and let $x_5=23000$

Then the data is:

$S=\left(x_1{x}_2{x}_3{x}_4{x}_5\right)$

$S=\left(9000900090009000900023000\right)$

Median $=x_3=9000$

$\therefore$ the median of the salary in the unit of factory is $M=Rs.9000$
