The circuit is constructed using two types of diode i.e. a Germanium (Ge) diode and a silicon (Si) diode. The forward cut-in voltage and the reverse breakdown voltage of both Ge and Si are (0.2 V, 13 V) and (0.7 V, 20 V) respectively, then the output voltage (Vo) for the given circuit is equal to

In the given figure shown the Ge diode will be forward biased and the Si diode will not be forward bias, because of the 0.2 V drop across the Ge diode. Thus the equivalent circuit can be drawn as,



Rest of the diode will be open circuited this the output voltage will be equal to 12 - 0.2 = 11.8 V
