When $V_{i}$ is + ve, the output of op-amp is negative, $D_{2}$ is OFF and $D_{1}$ is ON.

$V_{0} = 0 V$

When $V_{i}$ is -Ve output of op-amp is positive, $D_{1}$ is OFF and $D_{2}$ is ON.

$V_{0} = - V_{i n}$
