Alauddin Khilji was the second and most powerful rulerof the Khilji dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate.
He imposed a 50% Kharaj tax on the agricultural produce in a substantial part of northern India. He was not a very religious person and ignored the Ulemas.
