  1. There are different ways of heating and cooling of the atmosphere. The transfer of heat through horizontal movement of air is called Advection. The other modes are Conduction, Convection, Terrestrial Radiation and Green House Gases.
  2. The longwave radiation is absorbed by the atmospheric gases particularly by carbon dioxide and the other greenhouse gases whereas the atmosphere is transparent to the shortwave solar radiation.
