Sponges can reproduce sexually as well as asexually. After fertilization in the case of sexual reproduction in the sponge, the larva is released into the water. It floats for a few days. The larvae later sticks to a solid to begin its growth into an adult sponge. Sponges are also able to reproduce asexually through budding.
