The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) is a research organization an autonomous organization funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. CDFD is Sun Microsystems Centre of Excellence in Medical Bio-

informatics, supported with a strong bioinformatics facility, and is the India node of the EMBnet.

It provides range of services:

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) - Centre for DNA Fingerprinting &Diagnostics (CDFD) Centre for Basmati DNA analysis was established in CDFD in 2005 to test Basmati rice samples for export.

Description of Service In DNA Finerprinting:

1. Establishment of parentage
2. Identification of mutilated remains
3. Establishment of biological relationships for immigration, organ transplantation and property inheritance cases
4. Identification of missing children and child swapping in hospitals
5. Identification of rapist in rape cases
6. Identification in murder case

Cost of Service:

• Rs.5,000/- for each blood sample/person
• Rs.10,000/- for each forensic exhibit analyzed
• Extra 14.5% (w.e.f.1/06/2015) service charge as levied by Government of India.

The genetic diagnostic laboratory at Centre for DNA Fingerprinting & Diagnostics offers comprehensive diagnosis of genetic diseases (cytogenetic, biochemical and molecular).
