Question

Consider the following statements and arrange in the order of true/ false as given in the codes.
S1: The IUPAC name of the compound [Cr(NH3)5(NCS)][ZnCl4] is pentaamminethiocyanato-N-chromate(III) tetrachlorozincate (II).
S2:CoSO4 is paramagnetic and coloured.
S3:[Co(NH3)4(NO2)2]NO3 shows ionisation, linkage and geometrical isomerism.
S4: The C-O bond length in the complex, [Fe(CO)5] is same as that found in carbon monoxide itself.

Solution

The correct option is C F T T F
CoSO4, with Co(II) ion having [Ar]3d74so outer electronic configuraton contains two unpaired electrons and is paramagnetic and colored.
The ionization isomers are Co(NH3)4(NO2)2]NO3 and [Co(NH3)4(NO3)]NO2
Linkage isomers are [Co(NH3)4(NO2)2]NO3 and [Co(NH3)4(NO2)(ONO)]NO3
cis and trans isomers are the geometrical isomers. Total 10 isomers are possible for this compound.
Hence both statements are true.
The IUPAC name of Cr(NH3)5(NCS)][ZnCl4] is pentaamminethiocyanato-N-chromium(III) tetrachlorozincate (II). or
pentaammineisothiocyanatochromium(III) tetrachlorozincate (II).
In metal carbonyls, due to synergic bonding between metal and ligand, the bond between C and O becomes weak. Hence, the bond length increases.
Hence, both statements are incorrect.
