Peroxisomes contains some enzymes that oxidize certain molecules normally found in cell and most importantly it metabolises xenobionts which are generally chemical substances that are foreign to animal life and may cause toxicity. When several ribosomes are held together on a single mRNA chain and can translate the same simultaneously, they are known as polysomes. Mitochondria plays a major role in ATP generation in aerobic animals and also helps in oxidative phosphorylation. On the other hand Golgi complex,Endoplasmic Reticulum and lysosomes comprises together the GERL.
