Totipotency is the capacity or ability of any single plant cell to differentiate into entire new 'plant when providing with suitable growing medium. It enables us to micropropagate desired plants. In ginger and turmeric (Curcuma) the means of vegetative reproduction/propagation is fleshy dorsiventral, horizontal, branched underground perennial modified stem-(rhizome).
